Senior students who are interested in volunteering in our weight room supervision and mentorship program for the second semester of the 2019/2020 school year can sign-up to attend our one-day workshop being offered on Wednesday, February 19th!

If strength training is your passion, and you would like to share your experience and knowledge with other members of the B.C.S.S. student community, here’s a great opportunity!

Mentor trainers will be expected to commit to at least one day per week during a senior ILIP / Junior lunch period during which time, two or three mentors will be responsible for in-area supervision and monitoring of the second floor weight training facility.

Specifically, your role as a mentor will involve:
– providing guidance and form feedback to novice and less-experienced athletes;
– providing exercise demonstration to other athletes;
– ensuring safe and appropriate use of equipment;
– recording and reporting any misuse of training equipment;
– modelling positive student athlete behaviour.

Best of all, as a mentor, during your weekly shift or shifts, you will also be able to do your own training and exercise during this time!

Any interested students should sign up with our Strength and Conditioning department (room 1020). Or, you can register online here!

All students attending the one-day training session on February 19th must also return this in-house field trip permission form (also available in room 1020) by February 18th.
