Smarter Athletes

Building smarter, self-sufficient athletes.

The Smarter Athletes program was introduced at BCSS in 2011 to provide student athletes with a set of tools that they can apply to their personal deliberate practice and long-term development plan. The program focuses on building ancillary capacities in areas of physical training, nutrition, recovery, injury prevention, and sub-disciplines of sport psychology.

For the past five years, Smarter Athletes presentations have a been delivered to fitness-based HPE classes and to students in the High-Performance Athlete (HPA) program. In many cases, class assignments involve reflections and practical applications of the information and knowledge delivered in the Smarter Athletes program. Students who would like to review presentations in video format or as a series of slides available in a single PDF file can download or view them here. As the school year progresses, new presentations that are delivered in the Smarter Athletes program will be found here.

Athletes that are not currently enrolled in a course that involves the Smarter Athletes program are also encouraged to check out the presentations. If you are an aspiring high-performance athlete, it’s never too early to start building your way to self-sufficiency.
